MAS90 v4.4 and You

 

Sage 90As you probably know by now, the latest version of Sage MAS90 and MAS200, Version 4.4, has now shipped. Data conversations and upgrades appear to be going smoothly, and it appears to be more stable than many of the preceding versions. A large number of the additions included in this version came from specific user requests, so there is likely to be something in here for almost everyone. Some of the newer features that we've found to be of greatest interest include:   

 

·  Expanded Inventory Item Numbers (from 15 to 30 characters)

·  Expanded Miscellaneous Charge Codes (from 7 to 30 characters)

·  Expanded Customer Numbers (from 7 to 20 characters)

·  Displaying "expected" item counts during inventory physical count entry

·  Improved Drop Ship Processing (drop ship receipts now included in history)

·  Upgrade of Inventory, Purchase Order, and Bill of Materials to the "new framework"

·  Persistent report settings (users can set their own report configurations and they will stay with the user)

·  Significantly enhanced usability (date/time stamps, right clicking on screens for increased inquiry capabilities, etc.)

One of the biggest areas for streamlining operations and getting more out of your accounting and ERP software is in the area of integrating shipping solutions with MAS90 and MAS200.  If you're not already using Starship or another integrated multi-carrier shipping solution, there are huge advantages to tieing in your UPS Worldship and/or Fedex Shipment Manager Software with MAS90.  Tracking Numbers, ship dates, weights, and other key shipping data  can be available automatically within MAS90.  This can cut huge amounts of time and effort down from your customer service and accounting staff, and additionally eliminate many of the errors that can occur when manual entry of this information occurs.

MAS90 Tips & Tricks

 

Our Tips & Tricks this week discusses how to apply a Credit Memo to an Open Invoice.

 

ToolsFrom time to time, a customer might request that an issued Credit Memo be applied to an Open Invoice in lieu of payment. If the Credit Memo was never applied to an invoice, these steps illustrate how to clear the invoice balance.

 

  1. Navigate to Modules->Accounts Receivable->Main->Cash Receipts Entry.
  2. Select the Next Deposit Number
  3. In the Description field, enter a description for the deposit
  4. Click ACCEPT
  5. Select the customer to apply the invoices
  6. In the Check No field, enter a check no. (It does not matter what number is entered as this will not be recorded in Bank Reconciliation, but MAS 90 requires a check number).
  7. In 2.Lines Tab select the invoice with the balance
  8. In 2.Lines Tab, select the Credit Memo to be applied to the invoice.
  9. Update the Registers.
